About Rollerball: The Sport

Rollerball is a violent and thrilling spectacle played worldwide in steeply banked circular arenas. Combining elements of hockey and roller derby, it pits two teams against each other, all wearing body armor and studded gloves. Either skating or riding motorcycles the arenas at high speeds.

The objective of the game is simple: score points by throwing a steel ball into the opponent's magnetic goal by any means necessary. Injuries are frequent and generally go unpunished.

Despite its seemingly chaotic nature, Rollerball is still governed by a few rules:

A - All players must travel anti-clockwise around the arena.

B - Players must visibly indicate possession of the ball.

As described by Mr. Bartholomew, the head of the Energy Corporation — "it is a spectacle designed to showcase the futility of individual effort in a world dominated by corporate interests."
